Concrete driveway cost

Driveways are the heaviest-duty residential slab, so they're poured thicker (5–6") and always reinforced. That makes thickness and rebar the main cost drivers on top of the square footage.

Typical footprints are a single-car 12×24, a wider 20×20, or an 20×40 for two cars plus turning space. Size yours below at 6" and compare the installed cost against an asphalt quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost?
A concrete driveway costs about $6–$13 per square foot installed at 5–6" thick in 2026 (driveways are poured thicker than patios to carry vehicles). A single-car 12×24 driveway runs roughly $1,900–$4,100.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
Pour driveways at least 5", and 6" if trucks or RVs will use it. Reinforcement with rebar or wire mesh is standard for a driveway.
Is a concrete or asphalt driveway cheaper?
Asphalt usually has a lower up-front cost per square foot, while concrete lasts longer and needs less maintenance. Over 20+ years the lifetime costs often converge. Price the concrete option here first.
