Concrete patio cost

Patios are priced by the square foot, so the two levers are size and finish. A broom finish is the cheapest; stamped, colored or exposed-aggregate finishes add to the per-square-foot rate. Thickness is almost always 4".

Common patio sizes are 10×10, 12×12 and 16×20. Size yours below, then use the base-gravel card so it drains and doesn't heave.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a concrete patio cost?
A plain concrete patio costs about $5.50–$12 per square foot installed in 2026. A 12×12 (144 sq ft) patio runs roughly $800–$1,750 for a broom finish; stamped or colored finishes cost more.
How thick should a concrete patio be?
4" is standard for a patio that carries foot traffic and furniture. There's rarely a need to go thicker unless a hot tub or vehicle will sit on it.
Is a concrete patio cheaper than pavers?
A poured concrete patio is usually cheaper per square foot than pavers, which have higher material and labor costs. Pavers are easier to repair and re-level. Price the slab here, then compare.
What size patio should I build?
For a small seating area, 10×10 to 12×12 works; for dining plus lounging aim for 16×16 or larger. Pick your size from the table for its full cost.
